Australian fossil opal
This is an Australian boulder opal. It's either fossilized forest floor, or detritus from an ancient creek bed or swampy area. The tiny plant stems with hooked leaves might be 'pine' twigs, or perhaps fragments of sphagnum moss, and there may be some seeds and other plants.
I included microscopic images in the end.

Flying over thunderstorm

We hit a strong thunderstorm over Texas and made a rather big circle to avoid it. Sadly I was sitting in a middle sit and was not able to film the best of it.
Total solar eclipse from a cruise ship
Переглядів 10521 годину тому
This video contains a few videos and time lapses filmed with different devices: 3 iPhone, GoPro Hero4 and Canon SX60. The idea was to capture the experience, including the sunset-colored horizon (that probably was missed by most people) and the planets (Venus and Jupiter) that some managed to miss too. In the end there are reflections of the partially eclipsed sun.

are those stinkbugs?
I don’t think so.
@@george94122 maybe they're juvenile stinkbugs
That just looks impossible!! A once in a lifetime chance, me thinks. Great that you got it on video. 😊
Thank you!
When it’s that big - go to boatdocks
upon looking at some other pictures on the internet, it seems that many appear to be a wall of ice. hmmm? Bet this is where the flat earth theory gets the wall of ice part.
It could be a mirage of ice or even a mirage of the sea surface, which I see more often than mirage of clouds.
Wish I lived near the ocean, or large enough body of water to produce these effects. They are fun to watch.
They are!
these things LOVE my zucchini plants.
LOL
That was very well done indeed. He made short work of it!
Awesome footage!
what made that ticking / clapping sound in the background?
Love it!
I have never seen THE ACTUAL first stop of the eclipse until now
Nobody wants to burn the sensor. :) Thank you!

Coudn't they kill the fish before feeding to the seagull... ( They swallow theyr food)
wonderful, that must have been exciting
Thank you! It was exiting!
The fact it doesn’t even snap the fish in half and really does swallow the whole thing in one piece. Seagulls (earth’s mystery)
give a bird a fish... teach a bird to fish...

Thank you! This video from 2 months ago. We are back to California now.
Damn, everything reminds me of her
How does the seagul eat big fish they will get sick
That's not how that works.
Brilliant footag! Gives us bird enthusiasts insides into the behaviour of these majestic beasts. I have been waiting for this type of footage ever since i got interested in red shouldered hawks and other birds of prey. This has the potential to challenge everything we thought we knew about the Red-shouldered hawk. Revolutionary stuff. Keep up the good work! 🧐
Thank you!
It's like a 80 kilo heavy guy, eating a 25 - 30 kilo steak for dinner.
cute birb

When he said "HAHAHAHAH", it was so amazing it brought a tear to my eye👏 I'm not a bot
Did that drake even notice a female duck passing by?
The seagull really said “Mean!” after the lady says: “Shut up!” 0:04
used to fish jacksmelt and give it to seagulls all the time
To get geometric shapes like that the lava (basalt) had to sit and stay very hot for a long time. How long? Not sure exactly but it must be over a number of years? What we see it maybe the innner walls of a big volcano or its nearby lava lake. It can all be dated and usually we hear dates like 8-12 million or 30 million years ago. Something like that.
Thank you!
It only takes a few months to a few years for lava to cool and contract to form basalt columns. That said, you are correct that it is old, the lava was intruded underground into a sill, c. 15 - 21 million years ago.
